My Dad the original hipster

'70s Mam and Dad

While I was down visiting my Dad recently before he went in for a hip replacement operation, my Uncle Neale turned up with some pictures that can only be described as a peach. The envelope was a little mixed up, so I'm not even sure what decade these are from. Given the clothes, and covering of hair on my Dad's head I'd guess these were '70s, at least 6-8 years before I was a glimmer in the eye.

Just look at my Dad, he's a regular Don Corleone. And we'll never know if this shirt was fancy dress, or just he every day clobber. Thats him below left with my Auntie Jean, and my Mam on the right with him too.

'70s Majorca

In the foreground is my Uncle Neale, in Majorca also late '70s. I've been told this was a time when the tiny Spanish island only had one telephone. Going on holiday was a much different experience back then, no roaming data option to keep you linked to the office here. Unfortunately I don't know who the other two gents in the photos are, I'll have to find out.

I'm a big fan of camera apps for Android, my new favourite a slightly lesser known PicPlz to the iPhones Instagram/Hipstamatic. It lets you apply filters to shots from your phone in a non-deconstructive way. So much like Adobe Lightroom, you can always go back to the original image, or apply a new filter.

PicPlz lets you do this online after uploading. Don't like that Russian Plastic Camera? Change it for a '70s effect. All along deep down though, you know it'll never compare to the ones in your parents have in the attic.

There's one more picture I didn't bother including in the post as it ruined the set, myself in 1992/3 taken at the school I was attending in Florida at the time. I wish I had that shirt now.
